Start to notice all the ways that you try to control the world. How do you try to get others to do what you want them to do? How do you try to control your own feelings and mind states, with or without intoxicants? How do you rebel against being told what to do or being controlled by others? Ask yourself what would happen if you didn’t try so hard, if you just let go. Watch your thoughts, words, and actions today and see how many of them relate to controlling things, whether it’s traffic, your job, your family, your health, your mood, or anything else. Notice the subtle and not so subtle ways that these efforts cause stress, frustration, anger and suffering. See what happens when you let go of these efforts for a moment. Breathe, Release, Relax.
